SUSTAINABILITY AND GREEN BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES

For us, the use of Sustainability and Green Building Technologies centers upon our ability to listen and respond to the needs of our clients. Our goal is to provide the best possible solutions as a response to our client’s sensitivity and willingness to focus on sustainability and green building technologies. To incorporate multifarious product information into a high performance product while minimizing the impact on the budget will give the best return on investment for our clientele. Or simply stated, we provide and manage a team of pre-selected building science professionals that will contribute their collective wisdom in order to maximize the efficiencies and effects of selections made. The humorous but true quote: “ You need to eat your conservation vegetables before you have your solar cookie”  is a good fit.

There are a lot of great products that continue to evolve on the energy creating and conservation scene today. A long list of resources exists starting with the Department of Energy, Energy Trust, Earth Advantage, LEED professionals, distinguished architects, designers and engineers with experience in building sciences to draw from. Systems for considerations would include, high efficiency heat pumps (water ,air and hydro) with micro climate controls, LED lighting, Heat Recovery Ventilating (HRV) systems , closed cell insulation and air infiltration sealing and insulation products, native plants, soil, landscaping, hydro systems, solar systems, passive solar and cooling, wall and roof assemblies, ventilation and filtration systems, acoustics, fasteners, durability planning, balancing air pressure, managing thermal mass, windows, waterproofing, roofing, integrating smart systems, waste management and the use of certified materials, systems and products.

Some overall objectives and considerations when developing sustainable, high performance and healthy environments:
•Build to LEED Standards
Build in partnership with Earth Advantage programs
•Generate when possible as much energy as used (NET ZERO)
•Cast off little or no waist
•Use water wisely
•Minimize carbon emissions
•Require minimal maintenance
•Be management smart
•Minimize indoor air pollution
•Optimize management of energy, lighting, security, entertainment, and communications
•Strive to create solutions that are functional elegant and pleasing to our client’s tastes.
We have completed Earth Advantage certified Silver, Gold and Platinum Homes and are proud of our most recent Path to Net Zero Home designed by Nathan Good Architects. There is obviously a lot to consider however, this said, our most important job as your builder when orchestrating this or any other process in the building of your new home is to listen and respond to your wants and needs.

It is our job to provide you with the best possible solutions.
